What Type of Packaging Should You Use for Your Business?

When it comes to packaging, there are dozens of options. Itís almost overwhelming! How can you know which packaging solution is right for your business? The first question you should ask yourself is, do I want custom packaging or standard packaging? Custom packaging will make you stand out from your competitors, it will also give your customers a great first impression. Standard packaging is an economical option that will save your business some money. Once you have decided which style of packaging to choose, next you must choose which size is appropriate for your product. Are you shipping smaller items that can fit in a mailing envelope, larger items that need their own corrugated (shipping) box, or specialty items that need a mailing tube?

Mailing envelopes can be made out of many different materials. You can select from paper, paperboard, or plastic mailing envelopes. Because they are smaller, they take up less space and reduce shipping costs. Mailing envelopes are ideal for small items like earrings and clothing. Youíll be able to choose from non-cushioned or padded (bubble) envelopes.

Shipping boxes come in a wide variety of sizes, but make sure you are choosing the perfect size for your product. If the shipping box is too large, your product can slide around and get damaged during transport to your customer. Be sure to consider appropriate padding for shipping products when necessary too, such as tissue paper, packing peanuts, and bubble wrap.

Speciality mailing solutions, such as mailing tubes, are essential for mailing products that need to be rolled. For example, maps, posters, digital art prints, paintings, etc. Most of the time, these products are custom-ordered - so it is important for them to be packaged properly to prevent any damage during transport.

Overall, the main goal of your packaging should be to get your product to your customer safely!
